Best botanical pack lead: Northern Forest Trees Pack 19 covers 02 bur oak, 05 shagbark hickory, 06 bitternut hickory, 08 silver maple and 14 hackberry. Its high polygon counts and unverified native Unity wind/LODs make it an investigation—not a purchase recommendation.
Best immediate technical baseline: retain the existing native SpeedTree trial for Unity. For new assets, require useful LODs, intact canopy silhouettes, leaf alpha and working engine-native wind. FBX/GLB geometry alone does not transfer Unreal wind to Unity.
Budget gate: use the eligible organizational license tier, not a cheap Personal price by assumption. Aim for at most $45 before tax, with checkout total never exceeding $50. Free alder/spruce options below are technical comparisons only, not replacements for the requested species.
Feedback evidence: Brandon asked for local species, free/owned SpeedTree assets, LODs and FPS comparisons. Specific replacement-tree approval was not verified. Forge Island experiments favor preserving foliage/silhouette over aggressive polygon reduction; marketplace screenshots do not establish performance.
